Great Mouse
Ever had this nightmare?
You prepared a killer presentation with lots of juicy stuff, yet when you arrive at the meeting location, you see that projector and its (always too short) display cable is a mile away from the screen. You have to be standing next to the screen during the presentation so as not to divert the attention of your audience. Also, you notice that your laser pointer's batteries are flat!
I had this nightmare come true... several times. A normal wireless mouse does not always work, and them laser-pointer-and-slide-control devices are hard to find, not to mention that they have only one purpose, and are useless other times.
Lo and behold, a solution by Microsoft. This wireless bluetooth (surely beats RF; original USB bluetooth dongle included but if your notebook has built-in bluetooth, you may use it as well) laser (works on ANY surface) tilt-wheel (very convenient) mouse runs on two AAA batteries (easy to find), sports a laser pointer (finally!) and presentation and media controls (woohooo!). What's more, it's in black and chrome colors (mmmmmm, my fave :)
One moment it's a normal mouse, but click a button on it and flick it over and voila, you have a presentation/media controller PLUS a laser pointer small enough to easily fit into your palm. Click the same button and flick it again, you have your mouse back!
When you're finished, simply turn it off with the power switch (so it won't activate in your briefcase, draining your batteries), lock it into its original clear plastic carrying case (lest it gets scratched!) and go.
All these pros are countered by a simple con: price! Yes, early adopters have to foot the bill of R&D efforts poured into developing this little, cute but very functional gadget. Retail prices vary between $US 79.95 and 109.99. Hence only four stars...
If your life is like mine, rushing from customer to customer, making a presentation and catching the plane home, this beauty is highly recommended. But if you're just using your mouse at home for web browsing, never even bother taking a look at it.
